Joia Restaurant Milan

Yesterday we decided to test out Joia, vegetarian restaurant, in Milan, me and Camilla that is (bf was offered to join, but he declined the vegetarian offer…). The place was supposed to be really good and we figured that a Michelin vegetarian restaurant in Milan was worth a check- out.

After a bit of back and forth on whether we wanted to book in the restaurant or the bistro we ended up booking in the bistro. Apparently, there is a difference between the two, we just couldn’t figure out what it was, since both offered the option to choose a four- course fixed menu or a-la-carte (pick from the menu). After our visit it was more clear; the bistro is at the entrance and not very ‘put together’- too much lights, no ambiance, white tables with no linens and so on. The restaurant inside looked really cosy though, so if we go again- we book the restaurant.

The food was amazing though, we are quite similar in our taste so we decided to order two pre-courses, one ‘primo’ (a smaller dish) and one secondo (the main dish) and just share them all.

As an appetizer they served pistachio creme with mayoinaise, tomato, red beet and raddish- very good.

One of the precourses; Tomato with chickpea humus.

The other precourse: Almond white mousse with herbs and vegetables, avocado basil pesto and toasted walnuts.

First- course; Tagliatelle with tomatosaus, tomatoes, sprinkled with pistachios.

Main course: Quinoa burger with roasted peppers and lemon, sprinkled with truffles.

At the end of the day, the food was good, the service impeccable but pretty expensive to be Milan- 80€ for two people included two glasses of wine and a bottle of water.

Before we went to the restaurant we dropped by Dry Milano. My idea was that we were going for a glass at La Vineria (which I L.O.V.E), but since it was full I chose the bar next to it which was Dry, and I would really like to go back there, the food looked good and the restaurant had a fantastic interior (pictures from their website):

We just had a prosecco- Franciacorta Zero- good and fresh, not too much taste though.

All in all, a successful Thursday evening- today Camilla comes to Varese and we take her out to eat pizza 😃  And she meets bf for the first time- exciting times.

And then tomorrow morning at 7 we fly off to Bari ❤
